In 1999, Beverly Gaines moved to Webster after her husband Ron accepted a position at the Webster Fire Department. She is now Webster Council Member Position 4, and enjoying every aspect of it.

She was elected to Position 4 in May of this year but has sat on Council for two previous terms in Position 2 (2006-2012). She says her very first year on council was spent studying terminology and definitions, researching budget items, and learning about every single matter that involved the City.

Although taking a seat on council was a learning process for Beverly, city government was not entirely new to her. She has been involved in every city she has lived in, whether it was on a board, helping with elections, or just getting to know the council members.

When she moved to Webster, she became a part of the Celebration Committee and Citizens Police Academy. She has served on the Zoning Board of Adjustments and currently, serves on the Webster Economic Development Corporation.

Outside of the City, Beverly works as a Life and Health Insurance Broker. In her profession, she can help people of all ages, but is particularly passionate about seniors citizens. Her mother-in-law also resides in Webster, so Beverly is able to see what the elders in the community want and needs first-hand. Her daughter and granddaughter also live in Webster, so she is also able to understand the wants and needs of the many young families in the City as well.

Beverly and her husband, Webster Fire Marshal Ron Gaines, were high school sweethearts in San Antonio before getting married and moving to the Houston area. After 17 years of living in Webster, the family has stayed because of the City’s proximity to the medical center, shopping, and entertainment venues. When she is not busy with work or council, she enjoys crocheting, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.
